i was able to snag a sneak peek pass at this sad sad movie. as i was waiting for the movie to begin, the producers of the movie kept hyping it up, so naturally i was very excited. once this lame excuse for a movie started, i soooo wish it hadn’t. first off, this director didn’t know whether to make this film a horror, suspense or a thriller. so he just integrated all three of them into a blender and spat it out on screen. let me just say that i am sick of films with horrific twists. i actually think that the director of this movie, who is french, enjoyed the film hide and seek and wanted to make a remake of that film. i felt no sense of satisfaction from the twist, or from any other parts for that matter. needless to say, the gore and sexual content did not make up for the lack of originality and storyline. the only tension i was getting was this high tension headache, which stemmed from the weird static noises the director kept abusing.
natalie portman has shaved her head for an upcoming role, v for vendetta. she has a nicely shaped head if i must say so myself. i love how they make her look so dark and twisted. still hot.

here is just a quick list of some of the upcoming summer blockbusters that i want to see:
- mr. and mrs. smith
- batman begins
- war of the worlds
- charlie and the chocolate factory
- cinderella man
overrated. that one word sums up the whole entire movie. i was expecting so much more from a movie that the press was hailing as the best film of the year. it wasn’t a horrible movie, but it definitely did not live up to the hype. granted, i was a little biased because i am not a big paul giamatti fan. mr. giamatti was not the problem however. i actually felt that he actually played his mid-life crisis character very well. there was just something missing in this movie. i didn’t feel any emotional attachment to any of the characters, though i could certainly feel what they were going through. the satirical and dark comedy of the movie was also at times amusing, but it got old fast.

so the movies thus far in 2005 have been rather drab and mediocre. enter crash. if you have yet to see a movie this year, crash is the film to watch. this movie is excellent on all fronts, which is rare in today’s cinema. the screenplay, acting, directing, and cinematography were all superb. phil haggis, who wrote and directed crash, was able to capture the racial issues in a serious but also funny tone. the actors did a terrific job of portraying their characters, which only added to the realism of the movie. don cheadle, who not only acted but also produced this project, can do no wrong. i have to say that his resume is filled with critically acclaimed projects, with traffic, ocean’s eleven and hotel rwanda to name a few. i’m very excited to see what he has in store for us next, which is tishomingo blues, in which he makes his directorial debut.

stay tuned for the premiere of genericnever.com
