A simple dishrack is a great way to keep your kitchen counter clutter free.
These small, no frills dishracks take up very little space, and are easy to maintain. It is also hard to accumulate a huge stack of dishes, because of its size. It essentially forces you to do your dishes more often, so that you’ll have enough room for clean dishes.
Not to mention that your countertop will look much more minimalistic while your dishes are drying.
These dishracks can be had for less than $10 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Don’t forget those 20% off coupons.
Here’s a step by step guide on how to score an absolutely free night at the movies. I was able to use this guide to sneak a peek at the movie Juno.
- Check out the official websites of upcoming films or your local theater (or any other venues) for current free offers.
- Hop on your bike and ride to the nearest light rail.
- Utilize your eco-pass for free public transportation.
- Ride the rail until you get close to your desired destination.
- Bike on over to the theater a little early to get a good spot in line.
- Nab a free t-shirt while in line.
- Enjoy movie.
One of the easiest ways to enjoy nature’s beauty is to simply GO TO IT. Many state and local parks offer free access for the general public.
There are tons of activities for everyone. Many parks offer trails for cycling/hiking, and bouldering(just to name a few).
So take some time to enjoy the green scenery; it’s great fun on the cheap.
Even though recent studies have shown that most bottled water is actually tap water, many people are still shelling out big bucks for bottled water.
Why? I don’t know.
So I invite you bottled water drinkers to a challenge.
Buy a Brita or Pur filter and use it for your drinking water for ONE month. That’s the cost of what, two or three cases of bottled water? At the end of the month, see if you can taste any difference at all.
The only difference you will see is less waste and more cash!
Prior to my minimalist awakening, clutter was commonplace in my apartment.
This is a picture of my desk before, which was riddled with everything from low fat Triscuits to flash drives to Netflix envelopes.
My desk no longer looks like this disaster, proving to you that if I can change, you can too.
So how does my desk look now? Bookmark my blog and find out friends!
I am a huge fan of the movies. Arthouse, indie, Hollywood blockbusters, you name it.
I am, however, not a fan of the absurd ticket prices.
That’s where the discount admit cards come in handy. At my local theater complex, they offer a deal of 10 movie passes for only $50!
That comes out to uhh, 3, 7, carry the 1, 6cm… a whopping $5 per ticket! So check with your local cineplex for some mind-numbingly cheap deals on movies!

Good news to all. It is actually humanly possible to refrain from buying on Black Friday.
I was even able to resist the temptations and urges while walking through Best Buy and Target. I mean they had like $300 laptops, which is like $800 off from the retail value. That’s over 70% off, for a Sony Vaio notebook with an Intel Duo Core processor and a 160GB hard drive. This notebook basically trumps my decaying laptop in every single category, and yet I was still able to hold my ground. Haha…Oh crap. What have I done?
DAMN YOU BLACK FRIDAY 2007!!!!!!!!!!
I will be back from my vacation soon.
Hopefully being green doesn’t go the way of ugg boots and crocs slippers. Link

For those of you who are going on vacation, don’t forget to either turn off or unplug your surge protectors.
Even when your appliances are turned off (standby), they can still be drawing electricity.
By turning off your surge protector or unplugging it completely, you can kill off these “phantom voltages.”

Start out slow. It can be a bit overwhelming if you try too much too fast.
I started out by moving into my own place.
Then I started weeding out all of the unnecessary items crowding my studio; and life. There are a lot of things you can do with your unwanted things: eBay, craigslist, Goodwill.
A goal of mine was to get rid of only 2 or 3 things at a time.

What do you do when you are in dire need of a new wallet and all you have is 4 bucks?
You make your own.
I created mine using the ever so popular paper wallet model, except I chose to use Tyvek to give DuPont some free product placement.

Check out DVDs and CDs from your local library.
They don’t have the hugest selection, but every time I check there is always something new. I was even able to cancel my Netflix account, saving me about $18 a month.
The TV show selection at my library is UNBELIEVABLE, you can find anything from Arrested Development to Freaks and Geeks to the Sopranos.
