If I were to purchase one piece of furniture, this probably wouldn’t be it. But it’s nice to dream every once in a while. Atocha Design

I’ve been on the lookout for a coffee table as of late.  I came across this sucwittable table from designer John Grabham.  Interesting concept.

Check me out here.

Sadly, the table doesn’t exist anymore, but she was good to me before I dismantled her.

couch

There are times when I wish I didn’t live in such a small place.

I found this vintage possibly Scandinavian 1960’s sofa in perfect condition for less than $300.

The only problem was that it had a width of 91 inches, which is about 84 inches too long.

It’s cool though, sitting down while watching a movie is overrated anyways. Sleeping while parallel with the ground is also overrated.

So I had to pass it up.

Cluttered desk bogging you down? It just might be time for you to re-design your desk space. Link

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any real minimalist design photos.

Pictured above is my little computer(slash)everything desk. I got the white table at ikea on sale for less than $38. The ikea chair was a sweet find on craigslist for $10. And the toy on the table, well let’s not get into that (although I was able to snag a student discount).

Is it too white? Eh, I like it because it forces me to keep the surface area uber-clean.

Check this out.

I was having a nice little email conversation with Leslie (an editor for Apartment Therapy), and she said that I inspired her to make this list.

Sweetdiggitydiggums, thanks Leslie!

I am hoping to send her some photos of my place soon.

Here’s the link again.

Many of you may be familiar with Philip Johnson’s Glass House. For those of you who aren’t- get familiar here.

Just a modern architectural marvel.

floorplan-standard

Although this is not the exact plan of my studio, the measurements are very similar. This is the floor plan to The Rosslyn, which is located in downtown Los Angeles.  Living small can be done!  I will be posting more about “Living beyond the sq ft.”

I just finished my landing strip (think non-perverse), and I must say my life has already begun to change.  No longer am I spending countless minutes searching frantically for my keys.  My ID badge isn’t going to be wedged in between the couch cushions anymore.  And my wallet isn’t going to be in one of the ice trays in the freezer.  (I once knew someone who seriously looked in there when he couldn’t find his wallet).

Because they will always be in the same place everytime.

When I first moved into my new place, all of my walls were just plain white. So what is one to do? Well, a great way to spice up your space is to add nice wall art.

I chose to Rasterbate my photo, and then mounted it to my wall. Even though this method is getting quite tired, I still think it looks scrumdiliocious.

Below is the method I used to create the piece shown above. Materials I used: Photo, foam posterboard, X-acto knife, glue stick, 3M Command Adhesive, Kinko’s color laser printer.

  1. Find a photograph, image or picture of whatever you want.
  2. Upload the image to Rasterbator.
  3. Follow the directions and choose your desired size.
  4. I chose to print my Rasterbated images at Kinko’s (they were having a .49 color copy sale), since they have color laser printers.
  5. After I got the print outs, I used a paper cutter to cut the white borders off.
  6. I bought foam posterboard from Michael’s, and then cut them so that they would match the size of my print outs.
  7. I glued the print outs to the posterboard, and then mounted it to my wall using 3M Command Adhesive (one of the best inventions ever for apartment dwellers like me).

Total cost: $25 (less if you use your own printer)
