The iMD alleycat race and grand opening took place yesterday. It was probably one of the more eventful Saturdays that I’ve had in recent memory.

Trangalang took this picture of me before the race. He said that I was “carbo loading” before the race; stuffing my piehole with pizza and surrounded by balloons while sitting by myself. Sounds exactly like one of my birthday parties. Suc.

Riding the 50 some odd miles was c*ck brutal; I had a hard time keeping up with my pard’ners Darin and Matt. I remember shouting some pretty absurd obscenities the entire time. Suc this and suc that.

It was all worth it because at the end of the race we were greeted by a table full of delicious food fit for a hobo. $5 buc suc pizza from Little Caesar’s, Natty Ice kegs, and $2 buc suc wine. Then Mark had to ruin it by ordering 7 gourmet courses of catered vegetarian food from Tofoo Com Chay. Haha.

One of the best moments of the night was when I heard my number called for the raffle. I was overcome with joy. My prize: the Macaframa DVD, which I have long coveted, but could not afford on my hobo budget.

I think the camaraderie between new and old friends from racing and mingling with friends afterward was the best part; after winning the Macaframa DVD of course. Just look at my facial expressions. Yes, I am very self-involved.

Thanks to Mark, Anna, JP and everyone else for putting this one on.

in the form of conversations (via text, phone and real life) within a time span of about 30 minutes:

Alex:  Hey, I have an extra ticket for Passion Pit tonight if you want to go.  Hit me.

Me:  How much and when?

Alex:  Actually they have tickets at the door now for $10.  Hurry, there’s a line.

Me:  Is it worth it?

Matt:  Suc, what you up to.  I’m downtown.

Me:  Passion Pit is playing at the Blank Club tonight, you want to sucwidit?

Matt:  Yeah, I wanted to go, but I heard tickets are sold out.

Me:  I just got word that they’re selling tickets at the door for the 10 buc suc.

Matt:  Let’s go.  Now.

Me:  Do you have any tickets left?

Doorperson:  I think I still have a couple of tickets.

Matt:  Perfect, we just need two tickets.

Doorperson:  Ok..  That’s $20.

All:  Suc!!!!!

Not bad for a band that I wasn’t even that familiar with.  And to answer the question, yes it was worth it.

If you don’t know Passion Pit, the lead singer sings in this falsetto that would put Daniel Bedingfield on helium to shame.

I can’t wait for Friday. Why? One of my favorite bands of all time is playing at the Blank Club. dredg. Sucwiddables!
Shaping up to be a grand September my friends.

Sometimes I wish I had a high fade with slicked back hair. Maybe a pair of chucks with some Dickies and a wife beater underneath some sort of Armani Exchange collared shirt. And then an all black Yankees cap worn so that it just hovers the top of my head for good measure. Oh wait, but then I wouldn’t be able to get into Club Wet. Guess I’ll have to leave my hat in my ‘02 Civic with DOHC Vtec suc doo.

Btw, I literally live right across the street.

JP and Neiman had their big bday bash bbq today at the park.  This time we pulled all the stops.  Dan came through with generators and a bounce house, so we were able to power up the DJ booth.  Our resident DJs Jeff and Ryan discotequed the bbq out. There was a pinata that made it rain sweets from the sky.

It’s crazy, but I think every get-to that we have always ends up topping the last get-to.  Good times with all the homies.

Oh and the picture of me grilling like an idiot was taken by Joe.  He’s going to San Francisco State to major in photography soon.  He will be famous.

Yesterday a small group of us rode out to Gilroy and back for some Sonic drank.  It was a nice long ride, probably a little harder than the San Francisco to San Jose ride.    The whole ride round trip is about 60-70 miles, but the headwind is brutal, although we didn’t encounter too much of it yesterday.  The temperature was actually ok, it wasn’t too blazing hot, but it also wasn’t comfortable either.

Another disappointing season for the San Jose Sharks.  What’s even more disappointing is that they actually scored early, wiping out Tied House’s .25 cent beer special.  Tied House had specials for every Shark game in which you could get their house beer for only a quarter until someone scores.  The idiot Sharks scored in the first period, and then got pummeled for yet another early playoff exit.

Hit up Fresh Tomatoes on Tuesday, and it’s nice to see them shifting over to some green energy to go along with their green vegetables.

A group of about 10 of us made our way down from San Francisco to San Jose.  We took the train up, only to find out that we got succc’ed twice on board. Matt had dookie on his shoe, and my hydration pouch was leaking all over my backpack.  All good, because the Sharks were going to win later on that night right?  Wrong.

Took some shots from a Cesar Chavez session.  Some guys from Belgium were there shooting a video of this guy doing crazy tricks on a single speed mountain/bmx hybrid bike.  Ended the night with a brisk ride to McGlaughlin for some Rockband 2.

With daylight savings time in full effect, and good weather, last night’s Tuesday night crowd was the biggest we’ve had in a while.  Granted, not everyone made it out to the ride, which consisted of Yerba Buena and Fowler Park.

After our meal at 4th St. Pizza, Dennis stuffed his medium sized Freight Baggage with the whole entire Rock Band kit.

Had a good weekend that consisted of an alleycat race in Fremont, and homemade pazooki, among other things that I won’t go into too much detail about.

So why was the weekend also ugly?  I got 4 flat tires on Saturday during the race, which was really frustrating because not only was it a hassle for me to change, but it prevented others from finishing as well.  A small group of my friends and some other people stayed back with me which made it a lot better.  I now owe 5 people tubes.  At one point I was riding for miles on nothing but my rim.

The good thing was that SJF took some of the top spots, with JP and Reggie snagging spots 4 and 5.  We had at least 10 SJFers place within the top 20.

The following day, Nieman invited us over for some baked goodies, so we rode down to her place.  And I got another flat.  The once praised Continental Gatorskin failed me again.  After inspecting the tire, we all came to the conclusion that I received a lemon.  I mean 5 flats in two days?  And countless ones before that too.  Da succccccc?!/!?!?

Anyway, I think going out and staying late has taken a toll on me, because now I am feeling a little bit under the weather.

I did a little photo walk around the immediate area where I lived.  I love living downtown, because everything is just right there.  My place isn’t the biggest, or the greatest, but it is enough for me and my simple lifestyle.  And you can’t beat the location, location, location.

Last night a few of us did a brisk ride to Los Gatos during a break in the rain.  There is nothing like a cold breeze on your face while mashing down Winchester Blvd.

Visited the Andy Warhol and Frida Kahlo exhibit at the San Jose Museum of Art today.  The weather is really poo-ish, but that gave the surfaces a nice little sheen.  I’m loving my new Panasonic FX37, although the image quality isn’t the greatest, the 25mm 16:9 is unrivaled.

I also tried my hand at some overlaying pop art- I think I’ll leave the screenprinting to Warhol.

Yesterday was yet another unproductive but fun day in the cold rainy season. It was pretty random seeing the Tour de California in downtown San Jose, then getting soaked trying to follow the pack.

One thing that bothers me from an environmental standpoint is that each team/rider has an entourage of about 5 cars. Although cycling itself is one of the purest forms of fun, transportation, and fitness, having a caravan of vehicles behind you completely negates that. The cars were even going around during the warmup laps, how green is that?

Went up to Santa Rosa today to witness the first stage of the Tour de California with Lance Armstong. Yeah!!!! Also participated in goldsprints, and improved my time. Hopefully I can break the 20 second barrier next time. Tell me why San Jose has the fastest riders around!?!? We got all of the top spots. Even I came home with some free swag, a set of Hutchinson tires baby!!

My apologies for not posting in a while, but I have been going non-stop since last week. It all started off with a trip to Vegas, then an immediate “arts n crafts” party for the alleycat, to the art show and shenannies afterwards, to a day of climbing in San Francisco, to the actual Alleycat. Everything has been a huge blur, I don’t even feel like writing/posting much. Pictures are a mess too, so deal with it. Finally have day to just relax. Haha. Riding up and down the Las Vegas Strip was sick.

I’ve been taking advantage of the sunny but chilly weather, by riding and just plain enjoying life. A small group of us started Monday off by riding down to the Morgan Hill area, and then back up to this crazy mountain of a hill in East/South (?) San Jose? We just wanted to scout the location for the upcoming Tuesday night ride. Since it was Chinese Vietnamese New Year, we grabbed some food at Di-Lac. The place was jam packed full of da so coo Vtek gais, but the vegetarian food was good and cheap. Even Herb and Chris who I haven’t seen in a while made it out.

On Tuesday, Mark, Matt, Pavel and I did a rail n ride up to San Francisco. Pavel needed to grab some plants for his fresh water tank. He said his spot was in the cuts, and it literally was in a 6 foot wide alley. The rest of the time we spent doing a mini city loop ride, while stopping at various locales. We were all pretty effin tired by the end of the day, but there was still riding to be done. The group went up Yerba Buena, and then bombed the hill, I lazily went down the bottom half only haha. Mark’s brand new el cheapo tire that he put on that day was ripped to shreds.

Truly an inspiration.  To think just fifty years ago that there were water fountains designated for certain races.  Now we have a black president.  WOW.  Just wow.

Started the day off by riding out to Los Gatos, to pick up my cousins for the Warriors game since they had an extra ticket.  Used my uncle’s car to carpool to the Oracle Arena.  There must be something about 2009, because when we went to the game they actually won.  When the cheerleaders come out on the floor though, everybody wins.

Can you believe that a couple of pizzas, nachos and a gatorade was $34?

Later in the evening Sarah and Pavel, being the gracious hosts that they are, held a little shindig at their pad.  Rolled up to Pavel grilling up some dogs/burgers and veggies that were T-N-E-L-U-C-C-U-S.  Reference to Cranium, which we later played.  Everybody was eating and laughing, singing karaoke and playing board games.

Not all was fun and games though.  During his state of drunken rage, Alex called me out to a race up and down Communication Hill.  I was taken back, but I knew I was up for a challenge, because he had consistently been beating me up hills as of late.  I accepted.  The stakes:

If I win:  3 bike washes/tuneups from Alex.

If Alex wins:  A roundtrip via Caltrain to San Francisco paid by me.

Tim came up with this awesome flyer.
